MADster – Sandy

Tsai-wei (Sandy) Hsu

What made you want to enter MAD2Run?

I entered Mad2Run because I wanted to accomplish something big in my life and doing it for a cause, such as
the MAD Foundation, makes it a unique and amazing experience. Through my studies (in Architecture) I have
met people who started educational facilities for children in inner-cities & in rural areas who couldn’t afford to
attend school and through their efforts they have made a difference in a small group of children which will
only better and enrich their lives. Education is so important and is an absolute necessity which was something I
was fortunate to have growing up and you sometimes forget not all are lucky nor privileged enough to have
access to.
As for the physical side this is so far out of my comfort zone that I feel I am ready to take on this physical
challenge at this point in my life.

What are you most excited about for this journey?
I am excited to be a part of Team ’18 and getting to know everyone who are all on this journey to make a
difference for the MAD Leadership Foundation fellows. I am also excited to push myself as far as I can, as I
have never done anything quite like this before.

How will you bring Gees to the team?
I sometimes like to think I’m funny or just extremely strange, so either way I hope to bring smiles and laughs to
the team and I’m up for any challenges that may come our way.

What are you most nervous about?
Definitely nervous about the run and the challenge over the 7 days, sleep deprivation tends to make one do
some strange things so we’ll see how strange things get.

How is your training going and what are you doing to train for this MAD adventure?
I’ve been mixing running with some strength training days and swims, also training for the Otter trail in
December so just trying to make myself stronger and trying to be consistent with various workouts.

Do you have any fitness tips and trick you would like to share with our Readers?
Listen to your body, that’s very important and taking care to not over extend yourself too much and end up
injuring yourself which puts you out. Also, mixing it up and doing various classes/ types of sports is really good
for you.

If you were a superhero, what would your super power and name be?
Hmmm…my super power would definitely to be able to teleport (or fly).

Sandals we know you’re going to rock this and looking so forward to the next few months by your side!
