MAD2Run 18

MAD2Run 18

This post marks the start of a very exciting journey that i’m about to embark upon, moreover, this journey has ultimately been the inspiration for the heart of this blog.

On the 16th July 2017, Bianca Perry, Sandy Hsu and myself were informed that we had officially been selected to be part of the MAD2Run 18 team! If you would like to watch our video that gave us our in, please feel free to watch it here: Application Video

What exactly is MAD2Run you may ask? It’s a fund raising initiative in support of the Make A Difference (MAD) Leadership Foundation. I, along with 35 other MADsters will be running from Johannesburg to Cape Town, in a 7 day, 24 hour relay, covering a distance of 1500km. We will also be finishing off our journey by completing the 2Oceans Half Marathon.

MAD Leadership Foundation was founded by Francois Pienaar and focuses on leadership development through education: the approach is to identify academically talented scholars, who do not have the necessary financial resources, and offer them support in the areas of education, leadership and life-skills development. They currently have 170 scholars on their program. And with our help we hope to increase that number.

To find out more information about the MAD Leadership foundation you can find them on all social media platforms as well as here: MAD Leadership Foundation

What is my “Why” for doing this?

I know that without the education that I have been exposed to (thank you to my mom, you truly are my superhero) I would not be where I am in life today! I am very fortunate to have a job I love, I’ve started travelling the world and have the luxuries that I desire in my life. So now I feel it is time to give back and hopefully by allowing someone else the opportunity of education in their chosen passion, they will in turn pay it forward one day, and so the snow ball effect of change begins. I truly believe that education is a vital part to one’s ability to succeed in life, moreover, I believe that in order for South Africa to grow as a nation, we need to support and help those around us to achieve all that they can.

“Imagine if we could grow an army of young leaders

who care about this country,

who care about society,

who care about their community.

What a powerful force for change that could be”.

Francois Pienaar

Upon meeting our team for the first time, we were given a presentation, wherein the video of Noqobile’s story was shown. This truly heart warming video of her progression on the MAD Leadership Foundation program is one of inspiration. I really urge any one who is reading this to please go and watch her journey here: Noqobile’s Story

Our MAD Team!

If you would like to get involved with this incredible journey please let me know. There are many ways in which you can donate to the cause, provide sponsorship and join the movement.

The Super Hero She Became will be updating followers with our journey. I will also be going more in depth in terms of our training & nutrition programs, not only physically but mentally and emotionally too. As one can well imagine that when it comes to a 24 hour relay, physical fatigue is one of the challenges that we’ll face, however, I believe that this journey will be more of a mental and emotional challenge and I am  excited to see just how far I can push myself.

MAD Love
