Name: Bianca Perry
What made you want to enter MAD2Run?
Over the past two years I have found myself continually challenging myself on both a physical, mental and emotional level. I am a very goal driven person and enjoy setting challenges like this for myself. I think it reminds me of my own strength when at times I forget! When I saw my friend, Kylie, had posted on Facebook that they needed a third to enter Mad2Run it took all of 2 seconds to decide to do and put my hand up. I think this might be my toughest challenge yet, on all levels!
What are you most excited about for this journey?
Using something I am passionate about (running) to make a difference in people’s lives. Whether it is through raising money for the MAD Foundation, or inspiring others through my participation in this journey, I am excited to know that I am running for a purpose.
Also meeting loads of like-minded people is pretty damn awesome!
How will you bring Gees to the team?
I like to think of myself as a funny person, I am always cracking inappropriate comments or jokes. And sarcasm is pretty much my second language. But I think that through getting to know the dynamics of Team18 that my freak flag will find it’s place. Otherwise I love giving people pep talks and building them up, be ready for some lame cliches when times get tough!
What are you most nervous about?
A few things but mostly ensuring that I am able to raise a considerable amount of money for the MADFoundation. It is the reason we are doing this therefore making it priority in this journey. Otherwise the amount of kilometers required from everyone over the 7 days is a bit daunting but that is Future-Bianca’s problem to stress about!
How is your training going and what are you doing to train for this MAD adventure?
So far it has been a bit slow! Winter is not the season that makes me want to throw my running shoes on and go for a trot at dawn. But with summer on the horizon, I have joined a running club in my area who meet twice a week. I am entering as many races as possible to get some kilometers in. Otherwise I am continuing my triathlon training as there are a few I would like to do before the end of the year. I am also cycling as I will be doing the 947 Cycle Challenge (both road and MTB). And for fun and strength training I do PoleFit twice a week.
Hopefully all these things will culminate into sufficient training for this thing!
Do you have any fitness tips and trick you would like to share with our Readers?
Find the fun in your training! Be it with a partner, a group or participating in different types of activities. Make sure you are having fun otherwise you will lose motivation quickly!
If you were a superhero, what would your super power and name be?
Difficult to say! I would love the ability to fly. Mostly due to the fact that I really hate driving, and especially hate traffic. Would totes use my nickname Queen B as my superhero name! (Imagining a yellow and black unitard right now!).
Excited to share this journey with you Bee!
